Moving outward from the parapet of the Mandala of Enlightened Speech are 4 color spaces each containing 4 victory banners. Beyond the color spaces is a band of white (lhanam) within which will reside 12 animals. Each animal carries a 28 petaled lotus representing a lunar month. Symbolically in the center of each lotus the full moon and new moon are found for a total of 30 deities. This lhanam embraces representation for the 360 days of the lunar year.
