Kalachakra Mandala - "Wheel of Time" - Feb 15

Prayers and stories tenderly added to the day's events.

Following the teachings and the examples of the teachers:
The opening of the heart
Echoing the waxing of the moon.

The final rim of The Mandala of the Enlightened Body was completed today.  It is a white parapet with a half-lotus petal design outlined in black. It symbolizes protection from afflictive emotions and is a fortification against obstructions on the path.

In the corner of this layer is a type of “leaf” which is a counterpart to the corner leaf in the area of the garlands of pearls. This is equated to the jewel ornamenting the corners of the ritual table.

The leaf or jewel spreads the feelings and blessings of love, compassion, joy and equanimity (the FOUR IMMEASURABLES) in all directions for the benefit of all sentient beings.

Upon completion of the parapet Losang then added all the deities (or energies) residing in the Mandala of the Enlightened Body. These energies are represented by small dots of sand in the gray crescents (wind) and the green circle (space) adjacent to the gate for the Mandala of Enlightened Speech.

Deities were added in many places, including the element symbols at each entrance, as well as in the center of each red or white lotus in the rim containing the twelve animals. Each of the entrance chariots pulled by seven animals carries a pair of wrathful protective deities on a green lotus flower cushion. Small white dots representing deities were added to the Fire Symbol seen above as the downward facing triangle.

The 28 animals that draw the chariots represent the 28 constellations in Tibetan Astrology.

Multicolored chevrons are hung at either side of the entrances
